Most parents work hard to keep their children healthy – immunizations, nutritious meals, regular checkups. But most parents don’t realize that unintentional injuries are responsible for more disabilities and deaths to children than all childhood diseases combined. Often measures are not taken that could prevent or drastically reduce the seriousness of unintentional injuries.

Injuries to children are down 45 percent over the past 20 years, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Through the Safe Kids Worldwide network of almost 600 grassroots organizations around the United States and 17 member countries we will continue to find new ways to increase public awareness of the global public health crisis of childhood injury.

Mission Statement: We believe that children should grow up safe, healthy and injury free. Our programs focus on injury prevention for children aged 0-14. Accidental injury is the number one cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the United States, and annually, one out of every four children needs medical attention for accidental injury. Safe Kids creates programs that reduce injuries through educating adults and children, creating safe environments, conducting research and advocating for effective laws.
